MonomatikCologne / Germany Andreas Brettschneider, Thomas Bönsch and Holger Brandt from Cologne got together as a band and have dealt with these questions for ten years. While incidentally looking for answers within the sphere of drum'n'bass, they soon bethought themselves of their roots in the independent-pop of the 70s and 80s, transferring the emotional tone and the romanticising attitude of the music to entirely electronic gear. Oh wow, even machines have got a soul. If you tinker with them for long enough, you can make that audible. And you call it Indietronic. Deutsch: Wie begegnet man einer zunehmend technisierten, digitalisierten und automatisierten Umwelt? Was muss man tun, um in einer solchen zu überleben und die eigene Menschlichkeit nicht zu verlieren? Die drei Kölner Andreas Brettschneider, Thomas Bönsch und Holger Brandt haben sich als Band zusammen- und zehn Jahre lang mit diesen Fragen auseinandergesetzt. Nach anfänglichen Versuchen, Antworten darauf im Drum'n'Bass zu finden, besannen sie sich bald auf ihre Wurzeln im Independent-Pop der 70er und 80er und übertrugen den emotionalen Tonfall und die romantisierende Haltung dieser Musik auf elektronische Instrumente. Und siehe da, auch Maschinen haben eine Seele. Wer lang genug frickelt, der macht das eben auch hörbar.
