Phour Trakk - Slip into something more comfortable

English: When the god of small things and the Indian goddess of music get together, then Phour Trakk might be the cause. After his previous side trip to the roaring maze of western metropolises, he packs his bags again in order to leave eastbound while in his mind he has already arrived there. And it goes without saying that he has remembered to slip into clothes both typical for the country and comfortable.

Consequently, his fourth EP on iD.EOLOGY comes along in a guise just as colourful, elegant and rich in texture as a dhoti by Manish Malhotra. Hilarious Bollywood-style vocals meet earthy downbeats, eastern harmonies contrast smoky blue-notes and breezy tabla-rhythms blend with deep fretless basses heavy as lead. While the memories of the skyscrapers' silhouettes slowly fade, all these details, all these small things coalesce to generate a wistful anticipation of a far-away culture.

Before fascination and rapture now make you light a candle and start making oblations to the gods, you might as well slip into something more comfortable and give this e.p. another thorough listen or two. After all, Phour Trakk has hidden quite a few more niceties for the attentive listener. Or was this, too, the god of small things in the end?

Deutsch: Wenn der Gott der kleinen Dinge und die indische Göttin der Musik zueinander finden, dann könnte das an Phour Trakk liegen. Nach seinem vorherigen Abstecher in das tosende Gewirr westlicher Großstädte packt er erneut seine Sachen und bricht in Richtung Osten auf, während er in Gedanken längst dort angekommen ist. Und selbstverständlich hat er daran gedacht, sich vorher nicht nur landestypisch, sondern vor allem bequem einzukleiden.

Folgerichtig kommt seine vierte EP auf iD.EOLOGY ebenso farbenfroh, texturenreich und elegant daher wie ein Dhoti von Manish Malhotra. Ausgelassene Vocals im Bollywood-Stil treffen auf erdige Downbeats, östliche Harmonien kontrastieren rauchige Bluenotes und kecke Tabla-Rhythmen mischen sich mit zentnerschweren bundlosen E-Bässen. Während die Erinnerung an die Silhoutten der Hochhäuser langsam verblasst, fließen all diese Details, all diese kleinen Dinge zusammen und erzeugen im Kopf die sehnsüchtige Ahnung einer fernen Kultur.

Bevor Ihr nun aber vor lauter Faszination und Begeisterung eine Kerze entzündet und den Göttern Opfergaben darbringt, schlüpft stattdessen doch einfach in etwas Bequemes und hört Euch diese EP noch ein paar Mal häufiger an. Denn für den aufmerksamen Hörer hat Phour Trakk noch einige weitere Feinheiten versteckt. Oder war das am Ende auch der Gott der kleinen Dinge?

Muss zugeben die letzten jahre nichs mehr von euren releases gehört zu haben ;)

Dachte mir ich guck heute mal wieder rein und schaue was sich inzwischen getan hat und bin über den super Phour Trakk Release hier gestolpert..

Einfach Spitze, gefällt mir sehr gut, wunderbare Melodien :)

Zeit hier wieder öfters vorbeizuschauen in der Zukunft ;)

Welch wunderbar dichtes Klanggewebe aus hauchzarter Leichtigkeit und rauchig dunklem Irrealismus. Ich fliege in einem seltsamen Gefährt durch eine große Stadt mit hohen Häusern. Das Licht schimmert gelb und es ist alles so vertraut fremd.

Ein wunderbares Werk. Vielen Dank.

Mein Lieblingstrack: Bhang Lassi.
